Following SSU’s investigation, another 3 militants who took part in capturing Luhansk region and advanced on Mykolaiv sentenced to prison terms
The evidence base collected by SSU investigators allowed to bring to justice another three traitors and militants of the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’, who fought against Ukraine.
The criminals were captured by Ukrainian defenders during combat on the eastern and southern fronts, including in Mykolaiv sector.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced two militants to 15 years in prison, and the third - to 8 years in prison, given his cooperation with the investigation.
One of the convicts is the deputy commander of the so-called ‘1st company of the LNR’s 248th infantry battalion’, who had been fighting against Ukraine since 2015.
Just before the full-scale invasion, he joined russian regular troops and on February 24, 2022, crossed the Siversky Donets River and took up combat positions near the village of Dovhe, Alchevsk district, Luhansk region.
Another person convicted had also been fighting against Ukrainian troops since 2015. At that time, he was a member of the terrorist group Shum of the so-called ‘oblast cossack union of the DNR’s Don army’.
Later, the militant joined Vostok battalion as a rifleman, and in March 2023, transferred to the russian MoD’s unit Storm.
The third militant is a resident of Luhansk. In August 2022, he had military training at one of the russian training centers.
After that, as a rifleman he went to serve in one of russia’s airborne divisions and took part in warfare against Ukrainian Defence Forces in Mykolaiv region.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found the accused guilty under several Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1, 111.2 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration);
- 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist organization).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
