Following SSU investigation, FSB informant who guided strikes simultaneously at Ukraine’s three regions sentenced to prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an informant of russia’s federal security service, detained by the SSU in September 2025 in Sumy, has been sentenced to a prison term.

The investigation established that he had hitchhiked across three regions of Ukraine to track the locations of the Defence Forces, against which the enemy was preparing air, drone and artillery strikes.

The FSB’s task was carried out by a drug addict from Sumy, who came to their attention whilst seeking money on Telegram channels.

Initially, the perpetrator tracked the combat positions of Ukrainian air defence forces within his own region.

Later, the occupiers deployed him to Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region. There, he rented two flats: he stayed in one himself, and in the other, he set up an ‘observation post’.

Following enemy instructions, the traitor installed a video camera on the windowsill with remote access for the russian operatives.

Using the live stream, the ruscists hoped to record the movement of Ukrainian military equipment towards the front line.

Following this, the agent was tasked with marking the geolocations of checkpoints and fortified areas in Pokrovsk sector.

It was documented that he travelled by car to a settlement near the front line, where he spent two days walking and recording the positions of Ukrainian troops.

The SSU detained him at his home in Sumy, where he had returned to prepare a ‘report’ and send it to the FSB via a messaging app.

A smartphone, which he had used to contact the russian service, was seized from the suspect.

Based on the SSU’s evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (dissemination of information on the location of the AFU, during martial law).

Given his cooperation with the investigation, the culprit was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.

The investigation was conducted by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
