Following SSU investigation, court seizes assets of another russian businessman financing russia’s war against Ukraine
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service, the assets of russian businessman Vadim Zarubin, who is involved in funding russia’s war against Ukraine, have been seized.
This includes 13 commercial real estate properties and corporate rights to eight mining companies in Ukraine, with a total value of over UAH 50 million. Among Zarubin’s largest assets is an abrasives plant in Kirovohrad region.
The seizure will prevent him from transferring the aforementioned property to proxies in order to avoid its subsequent nationalisation for Ukraine’s benefit.
As the investigation established, Zarubin regularly transferred part of the profits from controlled enterprises to cover the needs of russian armed groupings.
He directed the largest ‘sponsorship’ expenditures toward the purchase of off-road vehicles, unmanned systems, fuel and lubricants for the russian army.
To transfer funds to russia after the start of the full-scale war, the entrepreneur used a network of companies under his control.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Zarubin in absentia of suspicion under Article 110-2.4 of the CCU (financing actions committed with the purpose of forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizing state power, changing the territory or state border of Ukraine).
The crime is punishable by 10 years in prison and confiscation of property.
The businessman is outside Ukraine; efforts to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Kirovohrad Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
