After SSU investigation, russian oligarch’s assets worth UAH 2.11 bn seized in Ukraine

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court seized a large batch of industrial products and raw materials owned by the sanctioned russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.

These are almost 500,000 tons of bauxite and alumina produced in Ukraine before the full-scale invasion. They were stored in the warehouses of Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, which was previously owned by the oligarch.

The total value of the seized assets is over UAH 2.11 billion (USD 49 mln).

These products were the main component for the production of aluminium at Oleg Deripaska’s russian Rusal plants.

According to the investigation, the seized bauxite and alumina belonged to the russian oligarch through a controlled commercial entity registered in one of the EU states.

This company was the formal customer of the Mykolaiv plant’s products for further re-export to Deripaska’s russian entities.

In early 2023, the Ukrainian law enforcement uncovered the fraud and blocked the shipment of these raw materials.

Deripaska is a member of putin’s inner circle and is engaged in manufacturing products for the aggressor state’s military-industrial complex.

His factories manufacture components for Iskander ballistic missiles, combat drones and radar systems.

The SSU had served him a notice of suspicion in absentia under several Articles of the CCU, including for financing russia’s war against Ukraine.

Based on the Service’s investigations, all of the suspect’s plants in different regions of Ukraine have been nationalized.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
