75 persons sentenced for sharing photos and videos of russian strikes since start of 2026, based on SSU’s investigations
Since the beginning of 2026, 75 Ukrainian citizens have been sentenced by courts following investigations by the Security Service of Ukraine for publishing photos and videos showing the deployment and movements of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, including the locations and operations of air defence systems, as well as the results of strikes on ground targets and aerial targets.
The SSU systematically monitors such cases and holds those responsible for publishing this content accountable.
Last week, for example, the SSU exposed three Kyiv residents who had published the positions of Ukrainian air defence systems. They are currently suspects under Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations). They face up to 8 years in prison.
The Security Service of Ukraine emphasises that the unauthorised dissemination of information about geolocations, the combat operations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces and the aftermath of enemy attacks not only helps the enemy prepare and adjust follow-up strikes but also gives russian propaganda new opportunities to work against Ukraine.
Please, do not film or share photos and videos of enemy attacks. Publishing content showing the operations of Ukrainian air defence systems, russian strikes on military facilities and critical infrastructure, or the movements of Defence Forces personnel and equipment is prohibited.
If you have information about such offences, if you or someone you know has received suspicious offers, or if the enemy is trying to recruit you, contact the SSU:
