Following SSU investigation, propagandist who called on russia to turn Sumy region into dead zone convicted in absentia
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, russian propagandist Sergey Mikheev has been convicted. He publicly supports russia’s armed aggression and war crimes of ruscists against the civilian population of Ukraine.
Since he is hiding from prosecution in moscow, the case was considered in a special court proceeding in absentia.
According to the investigation, in June 2023, Mikheev called on the command of the russian occupation troops to carry out a series of massive rocket, bomb and artillery strikes on Sumy.
In this way, the attacker proposed to turn the frontline Ukrainian city into a ‘dead zone’ in which, according to him, ‘should be no living people left’.
Mikheev, positioning himself as a ‘political scientist’, made this ‘point’ public during a broadcast on the kremlin’s mouthpiece, Vesti FM radio station.
The propagandist also regularly appears on Solovyov's propaganda talk shows and calls for the continuation of air strikes on civilian infrastructure in the border areas of Ukraine.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found Mikheev guilty of committing a crime under Article 110.2 the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability) and sentenced him to 8 years in prison.
Since the criminal is hiding in russia, efforts are underway bring him to justice for crimes against our country.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
