Following SSU investigation, another 11 traitors who fought against Ukraine receive convictions
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another 11 traitors, who fought against the Defense Forces on the eastern front, have been sentenced to imprisonment.
They were part of russian occupation troops and stormed Ukrainian positions on Bakhmut, Toretsk and Svatove directions.
This autumn, Ukrainian defenders captured the militants. One of them surrendered to our soldiers after the surviving ruscists left him on the battlefield with a severed leg, where he spent four days before he was found by the AFU.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the perpetrators to 15 years in prison.
These individuals resided in the temporarily occupied parts of eastern and southern Ukraine.
One of them is a former military serviceman who defected to the enemy in 2014. At that time, he joined the russian Kalmius artillery brigade and took part in warfare against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces.
After the start of the full-scale war, the traitor was promoted to commander of the 1466th motorized rifle regiment of the russian armed forces and sent to attack the village of Verkhnekamianske on Siversk direction. His ‘career’ ended there.
Another traitor was a squad commander in russia’s 12th tank regiment. During the fighting near Svatove, he received an order to hold the enemy positions in a forest near the town.
There, his unit was destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers, and he was taken prisoner as the only survivor.
Other militants fought as riflemen and gunners of infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers in the ranks of russian motorized infantry brigades.
They took part in ‘human wave’ assaults on the AFU positions near Berestove and Lysychansk and fired at the positions of the Defence Forces near Soledar.
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found the perpetrators guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1, 111.2 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
