Following SSU’s investigation, another 3 militants who stormed Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka and Bakhmut sentenced to prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another three members of russian occupation groupings, who fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces on the eastern front, have received prison sentences.

Ukrainian defenders captured the militants during fierce battles near Avdiivka and Bakhmut this summer. Under the cover of the aggressor’s aircraft, they stormed Ukrainian positions.

Following an investigation by the SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators, the court sentenced them to 10 to 15 years in prison.

One of the perpetrators is a resident of Donetsk region who voluntarily joined the 100th separate motorised rifle brigade of the Southern military district of the russian armed forces back in May 2021.

Another militant enrolled to the invading troops at the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion and was assigned to the occupation 3rd battalion of the DNR’s 121st motorised rifle regiment. With this battalion, he participated in capturing settlements in Donetsk oblast.

Later, he was transferred to a rifleman’s position in russia’s 114th separate motorised rifle brigade.

With the enemy unit, the traitor attacked positions of Ukrainian defenders near Krasnohorivka. During such assaults, the aggressor’s ground units were supported by russian combat aircraft.

Another convicted individual fired at Ukrainian combat positions near Bakhmut, where was later captured.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the two militants guilty under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration);
  • 260.2 (creation of unlawful paramilitary or armed groups).

The third militant was convicted under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist organization).

The investigation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
