Following SSU investigation, another four traitors convicted, including militant who put up russian flags in Luhansk

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, four militants who fought against Ukraine on the eastern front have been sentenced to 14 to 15 years in prison.

One of the convicted is the militant Lee Won Chol, a Ukrainian citizen of Korean descent (also known as Herman Prokopiv). In 2014, he installed russian flags on seized government buildings in Luhansk and fought against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces.

With the onset of the full-scale war, he helped the occupiers to attack the cities of Rubizhne, Siverskodonetsk and Lysychansk, Luhansk region. During the battles for Spirne in Donetsk region in 2024, he was captured by the Defence Forces.

Two other sentenced individuals lived in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region and fought on Bakhmut direction.

One of them joined russia’s 4th motorized rifle brigade as a rifleman. There, he evacuated wounded russian soldiers from the battlefield.

In the summer of 2024, Ukrainian defenders took him prisoner near Chasiv Yar during combat.

Another traitor fought in the 7th motorized infantry brigade of the aggressor state. He set up firing positions and fortifications near the village of Malorianantseve on Siversk direction.

In the autumn of 2024, Ukrainian defenders captured the militant during fighting near Bilohorivka.

The fourth perpetrator is a native of Kharkiv region, who lived for a long time in russia, from where he was mobilized to russia’s 59th tank regiment.

After a short combat training, the occupiers sent him to attack the Ukrainian positions near the village of Terny, Donetsk region. In the battle, the Defence Forces destroyed his unit, and the surviving traitor was taken prisoner.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the accused guilty of crimes under four Articles of the CCU (according to the crimes each of them committed):

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration);
  • 110.2 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
  • 260.2 (participation in the unlawful armed groups).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
