The SSU Counterintelligence Department is acting comprehensively to prevent illegal export of goods subject to state export control. Over the past year, the SSU exposed dozens of attempts to smuggle domestic military products and dual-use goods abroad.
The SSU Counterintelligence prevented over 60 violations of the procedure of international defence trade transfer for goods worth almost UAH 800 million (USD 28 mln).
Following investigations of the SSU, the court sentenced 36 organizers of the relevant criminal schemes that posed a threat to Ukraine’s state security.
Zhytomyr region:
The SSU exposed an attempt to smuggle from Ukraine components for anti-aircraft missile systems and design documents for these weapons.
A former employee of a defence plant was involved in this illegal activity.
Mykolaiv region:
The SSU Counterintelligence prevented illegal export of technological equipment for warships. The participants of the scheme planned to smuggle dual-use goods to foreign customers disguising them as civilian cargo. The offenders entered false data into the accompanying documentation.
