Following SSU’s investigation, informant who passed intelligence on Mariupol defenders’ positions to enemy sentenced to 10 years in prison

The SSU collected irrefutable evidence proving the guilt of another supporter of ruscism, who passed coordinates of locations of the Defence Forces in southern Ukraine to the occupiers.

The offender is a pro-russian resident of Poltava oblast.

He communicated with his acquaintances from Mariupol, who unwittingly provided information on locations and movements of the city’s defenders in the early stage of the full-scale invasion.

The enemy informant transmitted the data via Facebook to the so-called ‘DNR commissioner on human rights’, an ‘official’ of the occupation administration in the captured part of Donetsk region.

The fake ‘ombudswoman’ passed the intelligence to russian commanders on the eastern front.

The SSU detained the suspect in March 2022 during counter-sabotage efforts in Poltava region.

The investigation also revealed his posts with symbols of the communist totalitarian regime, which he disseminated on social media.

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the offender to 10 years in prison, having found him guilty under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 258-3.1 (facilitating the activities of a terrorist organization);
  • 436-1.1 (production, distribution of communist and nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national socialist totalitarian regimes).

The SSU Office in Poltava region carried out the pre-trial investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
