Following SSU investigation, Azarov’s associate, who prepared anti-Ukrainian speeches for russia’s representative to the UN, convicted to 14 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, an agent of russia’s federal security service, who was a member of former prime minister Mykola Azarov’s inner circle and carried out subversive activities in Ukraine posing as the head of a civil organization, has been convicted to prison.
The SSU detained her in March 2022 in Kyiv.
According to the investigation, the woman prepared the speech of the permanent representative of the russian federation to the UN for the 11th session of the General Assembly, which took place in the first days of russia’s full-scale invasion.
At that time, the permanent representative of the aggressor state used the official letter of the NGO’s head to discredit Ukraine in the international arena and justify russia’s armed aggression.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.1 of the CCU (high treason) and sentenced her to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property.
During the investigation, it was established that in addition to preparing anti-Ukrainian statements for international venues, the traitor prepared ‘reports’ on the socio-political situation in Ukraine for the occupiers.
She also appeared on Viktor Medvedchuk’s banned TV channels and spread kremlin’s narratives, supposedly on behalf of ‘active civilians’ of Ukraine.
During the searches, the perpetrator’s mobile phones and flash drives, which she used in subversive activities against Ukraine, were seized.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
