Spin doctor sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment for working with Kremlin media

The evidence base resulted in a real term of imprisonment for a traitor carrying the information diversion against Ukraine.

The malefactor acted as a non-staff correspondent of the sanctioned online publication Politnavigator, based in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The mentioned media is operating in favour of Moscow disseminating Kremlin`s propaganda and blanking Ukraine`s name in the international stage.

Instructed by the editor-in-chief of the russian pseudo-media Sergey Stepanov, this correspondent worked on the publications justifying the armed aggression of russia and whitewashing the crimes committed by occupiers.

Thus, for instance, while fighting for Kyiv, the enemy accomplice made fake posts about the course of hostilities in favor of the russian invaders.

Moreover, in paid-for articles, he tried to artificially undermine the top military and political leadership of Ukraine and impose Kremlin rhetoric on the war in Ukraine.

In the summer of 2022, the SSU identified the offender and detained him in Vinnytsia.

Based on the materials, the court sentenced the racist to 14 years of imprisonment with forfeiture of property.

According to the investigation, the convict is a 51-year-old resident of Zhytomyr who, before the full-scale invasion of russia, concluded a contract with the editor-in-chief of Politnavigator.

At that time, hiding under the pseudonym Igor Petrov, a number of publications were prepared in support of the L/DNR terrorist organizations and the so-called accession of the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine to russia.

After the start of the full-scale invasion of russia, the head of "Politnavigator" Stepanov reached his correspondent in Zhytomyr via messenger and assigned him tasks in the war against our country.

During the searches, a computer and mobile phones were seized from the detainee, which he used to communicate with his Crimean boss and prepare fake publications.

Based on the evidence, the court found him guilty under two articles of the CCU, particularly, Part 1 Article 110, Part 1 Article 111.

In April of this year, the editor-in-chief of Politnavigator, who is hiding in Crimea, was served with a notice of suspicion in absentia under similar articles of the CCU.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
