Following SSU’s investigation, traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for providing defence plants locations to enemy
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another agent of russian military intelligence, who operated in Zhytomyr region, has been convicted to imprisonment.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the perpetrator was tracking locations and movements of Ukrainian forces defending the capital.
He also passed geolocations of several defence enterprises to the enemy intelligence service.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained him in July 2022 as a result of a multi-stage special operation.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the traitor to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation revealed that the enemy spy was a former employee of a local defence plant.
During the battle for Kyiv, he was recruited remotely by a serving officer of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces).
The aggressor recruited the asset through the banned social network VKontakte, where the man posted his anti-Ukrainian comments.
During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU seized computer equipment and mobile phones used by him in his reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.
Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Zhytomyr Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
