Following SSU’s investigation, ‘LNR’ militant, who hid in Kyiv oblast as IDP, sentenced to 8 years in prison

Following the SSU’s investigation, another member of the terrorist organization ‘LNR’ has been convicted to a prison term.

The criminal is a native of Dovzhansk (formerly Sverdlovsk), who in 2017 voluntarily joined the russian-controlled ‘LNR’s people’s militia’.

There, the militant was appointed a senior rifleman. In this ‘position’, he actively participated in shelling Ukrainian troops.

Commanders of unlawful armed groups also involved him in repairing military equipment.

Later, the militant decided to leave terrorists’ ranks and covertly arrived to Ukraine-controlled territory and tried to legalize himself as an IDP from Luhansk oblast.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the militant in June 2021 in Kyiv region.

Based on the SSU’s evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) and sentenced him to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The SSU Office in Lviv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
