Following SSU’s investigation, 7 militants receive suspicion notices, including commander of russian tankers who fired at Ukrainian positions in Kherson region

The SSU has collected evidence on another 7 traitors who fought against the Defence Forces in eastern and southern Ukraine.

At the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, they voluntarily joined various units of russian army and took an active part in the battles in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts.

In late 2023 and early 2024, the perpetrators were taken prisoner by Ukrainian defenders during fierce battles near Mariinka, Bakhmut and Kherson.

One of them is a unit commander of a russian tank battalion, who fired at the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Krynky on the left bank of Kherson region.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea. In June 2023, he joined the 144th separate motorized rifle brigade of the aggressor state.

Another militant is also a Crimean resident, who voluntarily signed a contract with russia’s MoD last summer. He was then appointed an armoured personnel carrier gunner in the 810th separate marine brigade.

After combat training at a training ground near the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, the ‘soldier’ was transferred to the left bank of Kherson region to storm the AFU positions.

Another 5 detained individuals are residents of the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Horlivka. Two of them had already fought against our defenders in the east of Ukraine in 2017-2019.

With the launch of russia’s full-scale invasion, the traitors joined the 1st, 4th and 5th separate motorized rifle brigades and the 115th rifle regiment of russia’s southern military district.

As riflemen, they received training at a training ground in Dokuchaevsk. They were then sent to the frontline near Bakhmut and Mariinka in Donetsk region, as well as Vesele in Kharkiv region.

SSU investigators have now notified the militants of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The suspects face life imprisonment.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Mykolaiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
