Following SSU investigation, family of GRU agents from Kharkiv sentenced to 15 years behind bars
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, agents of russian military intelligence, who operated in Kharkiv region, have been convicted to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
They are two local residents – a brother and sister, recruited remotely in 2023 by a serviceman of the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces (‘the GRU’).
On his instructions, they collected intelligence on the routes and schedule of the Defence Forces railway echelons.
The traitors paid special attention to the sites of temporary stops and unloading of military equipment and ammunition.
The enemy planned to use the information to prepare air strikes on the strategically important infrastructure of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) as well as to plan sabotage.
The SSU uncovered both agents at an early stage and, after documenting their crimes, detained them in March this year.
The individuals came to the enemy’s attention through their anti-Ukrainian posts in pro-kremlin Telegram channels.
The investigation revealed that they had also collected information on the locations of Ukrainian units near Balakliya and Izium.
During the search, the SSU seized mobile phones and computer equipment with evidence of communication with the GRU.
The court found both accused guilty under Articles 28.2,111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed by a group, under martial law).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
