Following SSU investigation, ex-MP Tsaryov convicted in absentia, his UAH 460 mln property confiscated
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, former member of Ukrainian parliament Oleh Tsaryov has been sentenced to prison in another criminal proceeding. This time, he was found guilty of financing russia’s armed aggression.
As the perpetrator is a fugitive from justice, the case was considered in a special proceeding in absentia.
The court sentenced Tsaryov to 8 years in prison and confiscated all his property.
The assets seized for the benefit of Ukraine include:
- two property complexes in the temporarily occupied Crimea: the Kirov health resort and the Duchess Baryatynska Estate museum, with a total value of over UAH 456 mln (USD 10.8 mln);
- an apartment in downtown Dnipro worth UAH 3.2 mln (USD 77,000);
- a land plot in Kyiv region, estimated at UAH 1.3 mln (USD 31,000).
According to the investigation, the former MP, member of the banned party of regions, is regularly financing the budget of the aggressor state by paying ‘taxes’ for his recreational business in the Crimea, and also finances the russian guard, which he pays to protect the above-mentioned facilities.
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found Tsaryov guilty under Article 110-2.3 of the CCU (financing actions taken to change the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine).
Efforts are underway to bring the criminal to justice.
Earlier, the SSU had notified Tsaryov of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU. The indictment on these facts was sent to court. In 2022, he received his first court sentence in absentia and was convicted to 12 years in prison.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions under the procedural supervision of Vinnytsia Region Prosecutor’s Office.
