Following SSU’s investigation, 3 militants, captured near Avdiivka, convicted to prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, three traitors who joined russian troops and fought against Ukraine have been sentenced to imprisonment.

Two of them were captured by Ukrainian defenders during fierce fighting near Avdiivka in October 2023.

The third was taken prisoner during the aggressor’s unsuccessful assault on Ukrainian positions near Novoselivka in Donetsk oblast in August 2023. Then, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over a dozen ruscists’ attacks during the day.

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced two militants to 15 years in prison and another one – to 12 years in prison.

According to the investigation, the convicted men are natives of Donetsk region and Crimea. Two of them joined the occupation groupings of russia’s Southern military district before the full-scale invasion, and the third joined in July 2023.

Two traitors from Donetsk region attacked the AFU’s positions near Avdiivka and Bakhmut as part of the ‘114th separate motorized rifle brigade’ and the ‘separate artillery brigade kalmius’.

The third perpetrator ‘served’ in the occupation ‘132nd motorized rifle brigade’. As an operator of anti-tank guided missiles, he took part in the battles near Volnovakha, and later - near Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the accused guilty under Articles 111.1, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason).

The unlawful actions of two criminals were additionally qualified as participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
