The Security Service of Ukraine in Vinnytsia prevented sale of potentially dangerous to the life and health of citizens counterfeit alcoholic beverages in retail network.

Allegedly, three local residents planned to arrange counterfeit supplies to neighboring regions. It was previously established that underground facilities for production of counterfeit alcohol were set up in Mohyliv-Podilsk. At the same time for conspiracy, they periodically changed the production places. The suspects intended to deliver the goods under the guise of products of well-known brands to the customers by mail to different regions of the country.

Law enforcement officers detained a suspects’ truck with more than 2 tones of bottled surrogate on its way to one of Vinnytsia post offices. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the products found is almost UAH 2 million (USD 70,000) at shadow prices.

Within the framework of criminal proceeding, initiated under P.1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigative actions are ongoing. The sources of origin of the raw material as well as the customers of the forgery are being established.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Fiscal Service under supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
