The prosecutor of the Rozdilna Local Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region demanded USD 5,000 from a local resident for covering up the crime.

SBU operatives found that for this amount the prosecutor promised to close the criminal proceedings. Moreover, her husband will not to be liable criminally for kidnapping.

The law enforcement officers detained the prosecutor in Rozdilna district according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on receiving the first part of the bribe in the amount of USD 4,000.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, urgent investigative actions are ongoing to identify other potential corruption and to bring to justice all persons involved in money laundering.

Activities to expose the prosecutor were conducted jointly with the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations Central Office under the procedural guidance of the General Inspectorate of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
