The SSU Counterintelligence prevented theft of parts intended for repair of military equipment in the JFO area. The offenders attempted to sell them illegally from the storehouses of the SE Mykolaiv Armored Plant. A lack of such spare parts could affect defence capabilities of Ukraine amidst the armed conflict with the aggressor country.

The SSU established that, within the defence procurement process, two officials of the said enterprise attempted to sell parts and equipment for BTR and BRDM vehicles worth nearly UAH 500,000 (USD 19,000).

Abusing their positions, the officials entered false information into accompanying documents.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted for misappropriation through abuse of office.

The investigation is underway to establish all circumstances of the scheme and bring the involved to justice.

The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation together with the SC Ukroboronprom Security Coordination Department and the National Police under the supervision of Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Military and Defence Spheres of the Southern Region.
