The SSU has documented criminal activity of a militant of the so-called Ministry of State Security of DNR. He is accused of cruel treatment of prisoners of war and civilians, including torture, in violation of laws and customs of war.

Within the initiated criminal proceedings, the SSU operatives established that the suspect committed these criminal acts on the territory of Izoliatsiia illegal prison. His crony, known as Palych, ran the jail. The SSU CI detained him in Kyiv in November last year.

The SSU investigators notified the militant in absentia of suspicion of crimes under the articles of the CCU:

• 28.2 (commission of a crime by a group of persons, a group of persons with prior conspiracy, by an organized group or a criminal organization);
• 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization);
• 438.1 (violation of laws and customs of war).

These crimes are punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The suspect will be declared wanted in the nearest future.

The pre-trial investigation is underway.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions together with the SSU Office in Rivne region are investigating the case under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
