Institute of the Security Service of Ukraine is a division of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

It was established in 1994 to train lawyers and investigators of the Ukrainian special service and other law enforcement agencies. Graduates of the Training Institute receive a Master's degree.

The training combines basic legal education and special training required for the SSU.

The cadets receive the following special courses:

  • Pre-trial investigation in the SSU
  • Legal support for operational activities in the SSU
  • Principles of state security, counterintelligence and operational search activities
  • Special tactics and operational-tactical training

In addition, the Institute provides SSU cadets with development opportunities and updated training given the changing nature of the operational environment and specific security challenges facing Ukraine.

The Institute is currently focusing training of the cadets in modern methods of documenting and pre-trial investigation for manifestations of hybrid warfare, terrorism and separatism, and crimes of Russian mercenaries against civilians.
