In Sumy region, the SSU Sumy Office dismantled a scheme of selling fake COVID-19 vaccination certificates. The perpetrators broke into a database of the National Health Service of Ukraine, which enabled them to enter false vaccination information into the Diia app.

SSU disrupts major illegal migration channel to EU via Ukraine

The SSU CI disrupted a channel for illegal migration to the EU via Ukraine. According to estimates, over 100 migrants have used this unlawful scheme.

SSU detains wanted member of transnational gang

Following the SSU operation, a citizen of a Middle East country was notified of suspicion. He had double citizenship and had been on the international wanted list for 4 years. He is suspected of a number of crimes, including extortion, robbery and illegal handling of weapons. According to the investigation, in October 2017 this individual, along with other 7 members, belonged to the gang, which forced the owner of 50% of the OPENTENDERS.ONLINE LLC charter capital to give up his share to the benefit of the extortionists. At the time, the victim’s share was USD 500,000. Currently, the individual has been notified of suspicion of extortion. The investigation is underway to bring to justice all those involved. The SSU has forwarded the proceedings on 6 extortionists to the court. The punishment for this crime, as stipulated by the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is from 7 up to 12 years of imprisonment. The Investigation Directorate of the SSU Office in the Crimean Autonomous Republic is investigating the offence under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

SSU exposes embezzlement of funds allocated for information protection

The SSU exposed Kyiv businessmen on misappropriation of funds allocated for protection of classified information in state institutions and law enforcement of Ukraine. The losses to the state are estimated to be UAH 20 m (USD 755,600).

The SSU works to protect critical infrastructure and national economy. Since the start of 2021, the Service has prevented illegal takeover of eight strategic enterprises. Moreover, state ownership of fifty real estate properties was restored.
