There is a territorial subdivision of the Security Service of Ukraine in each region of Ukraine. The priorities and operational focus may be different in each region, but all have the objective to protect Ukrainian citizens and ensure national security.  

The regional bodies of the Security Service of Ukraine are independent of local government and executive bodies and are not subordinated to them. Although work can be coordinated with local government and law enforcement.

Heads of regional bodies are appointed by the President of Ukraine on the proposal of the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine.
