The SSU works to prevent and expose crimes against national security. These efforts have led to 329 criminals involved in terrorism and infringement upon Ukraine’s territorial integrity convicted since the beginning of 2021.

The SSU Cyber Security Department and the US special services carried out a joint operation to expose Ukrainians who were active on the Dark Web. The perpetrators laundered millions of dollars for international hackers.

The SSU Cyber Security Department exposed officials of the Communal Property Department of the Kyiv City State Administration on corruption. According to preliminary estimates, the perpetrators caused UAH 12 m (USD 453,793) losses to the local budget.

Since the start of 2021, the SSU has seized 476 weapons, almost 183,000 rounds of ammunition, 384 kg of explosives and 417 explosive devices. Overall, 18 cases of weapons smuggling and 10 arms caches have been exposed.

Since the start of 2021, the SSU CI has exposed and dismantled 4 intelligence networks of Russian special services that operated in Ukraine, detaining 22 enemy agents, 2 of them ‘red handed’ in attempts to commit subversive and terrorist acts.

The SSU exposed a police patrol officer of the Kyiv Special Forces Regiment and his accomplice on illicit trafficking of weapons and ammunition from the JFO area.

The SSU ensures an integrated response in order to discover arms caches of LNR and DNR IAFs, including their subversive groups. As part of these efforts, two caches were uncovered in Luhansk region.

Since the start of 2021, the SSU Cyber Security Department has shut down 12 bot farms with a total 65,000 accounts. The farms were spreading anti-Ukrainian, anti-vaccination and other destructive content in social media.

Since the start of the pandemic, the SSU has been cracking down on COVID-19-related crimes. The SSU prevented the embezzlement of a total of almost UAH 1 b (USD 37, 707 390) of COVID funds.
