The SBU Main Department of Internal Security exposed an official of the Halytskyi customs office and two former police officers involved in a scam with cars imported from Europe. The offenders entered false information into the customs database for owners of cars with the European license plates to avoid responsibility for violation of transit.
The SBU Main Investigation Department completed the pre-trial investigation against captain 1st Rank Aleksandr Tolmachov, the commanding officer of the 41st Brigade of Missile Boats of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, stationed in Sevastopol city, temporarily occupied Crimea. Instructed by Russia's top leadership, the perpetrator set up a blockade of the Sevastopol Marine Guard detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in 2014.
The SBU exposed an illegal scheme of laundering over UAH 30 m (USD 1,071,429) of budget funds. The scheme was organized by the management of a top agricultural company in Sumy region.
The SBU blocked activity of an organized drug gang. It involved active and former employees of the Lviv District Police Department, in particular a division deputy head.
SBU suspects of bribe-taking the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa region. Presumably, the official’s actions caused fire accidents with human losses in Odesa.
The SBU cyber specialists stopped the operation of a troll farm in the city of Chernihiv. The actions of the perpetrators, who used almost 2,500 bot accounts, were remotely controlled by organizers from Russia.
In Khmelnytsky region, SBU CI terminated activities of a Russian asset. During 2014-2016 he was an active IAF member of the so-called “LNR”.
SBU cyber experts exposed an interregional group of hackers. The offenders distributed malware. A resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region programmed viruses at the request of a Russian client.
In Kharkiv region, the SBU CI exposed and blocked the illegal activities of an interregional criminal group. Its members illegally supplied large consignments of military goods to Russia.
The SBU found a cache in Donetsk region. The IAF members arranged the cache during active hostilities and the liberation of the occupied territory from militants.
SBU cyber specialists blocked an unauthorized sale of special equipment for illegal receiving of information. Such means are used by law enforcement agencies during operational and investigative activities, including covert audio and video recording.
