In October 2021, the SSU Cyber Security Situation Center stopped and contained 57 cyberattacks against information systems of state institutions. That was the outcome of direct analysis of over 28,000 critical information security events detected in the reporting month.

The SSU detained fugitive head of the Territorial Department of the State Judicial Administration in Kherson region, who had spent three months in hiding. Detention or UAH 594,000 (USD 22,633) bail was chosen as a preventive measure.

The SSU operation has led to conviction of the former director of a branch of the JSC State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine to 3,5 years of imprisonment. The official was involved in embezzlement of UAH 15 m (USD 567,751) of budget funds.

In Donetsk region, the SSU CI exposed and dismantled an agent network handled by the Russian FSB and coordinated by a militant of ‘DNR’ IAF reconnaissance unit.

The SSU Cyber Security Department identified hackers of the notorious ARMAGEDON group, which carried out over 5,000 cyber attacks against public authorities and critical infrastructure of Ukraine. They are officers of the ‘Crimean’ FSB and traitors who defected to the enemy during the occupation of the peninsula in 2014.

In Sumy region, the SSU CI exposed a group that set up a scheme to supply used, low-quality equipment to a defence aviation company, disguising it as new in an attempt to misappropriate UAH 2.5 m (USD 95,421).
