In Kharkiv, the SSU CI exposed a foreigner and a citizen of Ukraine who worked for special services of a state in East Asia. They were detained ‘red-handed’ having received secret files.

The SSU exposed illegal activity of officials of Odesa branch of a state enterprise that falls within the remit of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. Construction and technical examination indicated that the offence led to state losses of over UAH 10 mln (USD 380,000).

A head of housing provision unit of the MoD together with his accomplices organized illegal alienation of 1.5-hectare plot in the village of Brukhovychi. According to experts, the state suffered over UAH 20 m (USD 770,000) in losses.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence is protecting defence potential of Ukraine from subversive activities of Russia’s special services. Since the beginning of 2021, over 90 criminal proceedings have been initiated for treason, terrorism and participation in illegal armed formations.

The SSU is ensuring an integrated response to protect Ukrainian statehood and counteract to Russia’s hybrid aggression. Since the beginning of 2021, over 300 proceedings have been opened for encroachments on territorial integrity and attempts to seize power; over 260 criminals have been convicted.

In Dnipro, the SSU disrupted a scheme of counterfeiting COVID-19 vaccination certificates.

In Cherkasy region, the SSU exposed embezzlement of state funds during the reconstruction of the School of Olympic Reserve. According to the examination, the offenders wasted the resources as the building became unsafe for use after the ‘reconstruction’.
Integrated response to smuggling has generated a significant economic impact: the SSU operations in this area since the beginning of 2021 resulted in payment of UAH 981 mln (USD 37.5 mln) to the state budget and imposing of almost UAH 2 bln (USD 76 mln) of customs duties. This was the message of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov at a briefing after the NSDC meeting.
