During 2020, courts convicted 192 offenders for encroaching on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability, as well as for terrorist activities. All of them were detained by the SBU.
SBU CI jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a criminal group specializing in illegal appointment to the senior positions.
In Luhansk region, six IAF terrorists received notices of suspicion. They are involved in crimes against national security and civil security.
In Sumy region, the SBU Military CI detained a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on selling a batch of explosives, in particular, three kg of plastid with a detonator.
The SBU neutralized 600 cyberattacks and cyber incidents on government information resources and critical infrastructure facilities during 2020.
The SBU served in absentia a suspicion notice of treason to a company director from the temporarily occupied Crimea. His company serviced Russian military equipment.
During 2020, due to the SBU activity, more than UAH 2.5 b (USD 88 m) customs payments were added to the state budget. The SBU seized smuggled goods and revealed violations of customs regulations amounting to UAH 510 m (USD 18 m).
In Khmelnytskyi region, the SBU blocked the illegal activities of a commercial entity that mined mineral resources of the national importance.
During 2020, the SBU stopped illegal activity of 15 drug laboratories, seized 1,704 kilo of drugs, more than 76 kilos of psychotropic substances and 955 kilos of precursors. Also, the law enforcement seized smuggled goods and exposed violations of customs rules resulting in UAH 511 m. (USD 18 m.) budget loss.
In Odesa region, SBU CI officers detained a Ukrainian citizen serving in the so-called LNR Ministry of State Security (MDB) created and controlled by the Russian special services.
In Poltava region, the SBU detained a head of a department of the State Tax Service on bribery.
On December 22, 2020, the Ukrainian scientific and research institute of special equipment and forensic expertise of the Security Service of Ukraine (ISEE SSU) received a certificate of membership of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
